To tell you the truth, I believe resighing Bills is their top priority. He is a true leader to the detroit team the has lead them very far in the season. I am almost positive the Pistons will see that too. Look forward for seeing Billups at the Palace in a Piston's jersey. He's going to be there.

I a huge Detroit fan and i believe the Pistons will resign Billups. The real question is do we want him that badly to sign him for top dollar.
Many NBA teams make the mistake of keeping all of their original good players too long. You cant just keep them till they are old and have no value. The Pistons should get rid of him because he is getting older and we need the cap room to make a big free agent signing or trade. Personally I would love to Billups gone to Millwaukee, that means that we can sign their PG Mo Williams, who is just as good as Chauncey and hes younger. He averaged the same Points per game and only 1 less assist with 1 more rebound. AND especially important he is a true point guard moreso than Billups. hes not just going to throw up shots he will get everyone involved and pass like a PG should do.

It depends on what that team will look like as a contender and if Billups's heart is in Detroit.
This could go either way. If the Pistons sign some good players to replace the ones they want to get rid of then I can possibly see Billups staying . But it will cost them.
If Detroit decides they want to take the cheap route and not pay Billups the top dollar he is worth than he is long gone.
You saw how cheap they were last year by not matching that small amount to keep Ben Wallace.

What up J,
Billups has already stated that he's interested in coming back provided the Pistons will pay him - top dollar which he can demand on the open market.
i think you have to bring him back because he's a big cornerstone piece of their recent success. Their loss in the playoffs to Cleveland was not only inexplicable after games 1 and 2, but we also saw a defensive meltdown (more than an offensive meltdown)-- i think Weber and Wallace are a little bit older than they think, and with Big Ben gone- to not re-sign Billups will give the perception that the dynasty (in terms of Eastern Conference domination) is over.
i think they have to re-sign him and he is just opting out to get top dollars.
If they're smart they'll try to re-sign him so they can keep their backcourt of Billups and Hamilton, they still have Tayshaun and Wallace has a couple of years left- so if you can make a move and get another player you'll definitely be in the mix at the top of the East.
Chauncey is clutch down the stretch and that's hard to find.

I dunno...word on the street is that he might get traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. I'd like to see him stay, but he didn't do very well in the playoffs -- every time they double-teamed him the Pistons' offense was pretty much shut down. I think they're wanting to get some new faces in there, and Billups will come with a high price tag now that he's a free agent. Not looking good.
