no...
Lenny Kravitz, Curtis Mayfield, Steve Cropper, Cornell Dupree, Dionne Farris, Little Richard, Ben Nelson, Honeychild, Trickey, Tamar Kali, Moe Mitchell, southern California DJ Mariko Jonez, musician Matt Davis, Fishbone, Dead Kennedys, Chaka Malik, Carley of Candiria...oh yeah, the guy from Hootie and the Blowfish :o)
...there are a lot of black guitarists, rockers and punk rockers...they are just not accepted my the mainstream. Rock and Roll is originally an African-American art form, taken and "elaborated" on by Whites.

No one tops Jimi, but a lot of blacks have been famous rockers. Bob Marley. Lenny Kravitz. Chuck Berry. Little Richard. Arguably Michael Jackson before he turned white. Those are just off the top of my head. There are quite a few more.

There are great Black artists of Rock Music, Lenny Kravitz, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Tina Turner and Prince. Their unique style of music are as appealing to audiences of all ethnic groups, as the late Jimi Hendrix had.

Appaerntly african americans invented rock & roll see this article
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1077/is_9_56/ai_76285243
Here is a sample
Before Elvis Presley sang "Hound Dog," Big Mama Thornton had house-trained that canine. Before Bill Haley & the Comets popularized "Shake, Rattle & Roll," Big Joe Turner had done all three. The Crewcuts' "Sh-Boom" was originally sung by the Chords, and The Beatles' "Roll Over Beethoven" was rocked by Chuck Berry long before the boys from Liverpool "invaded" America.
It continues to be the biggest lie in the music industry--that Whites created rock `n' roll. From history books to rock-oriented cafes, from the pretentious Graceland mansion to the corner record store, White rock `n' roll artists have been immortalized and credited with creating the multibillion-dollar rock music industry.
Lost is the reality that rock `n' roll was actually born out of the belly of Black blues music and raised by Black artists in the 1950s in smoke-filled clubs along Beale Street in Memphis, 47th Street in Chicago and 125th Street in Harlem. Only years later, when White teenagers began openly digging the electric guitars and the pounding drum beats that Black artists were playing--a sound their parents had disparagingly labeled "race" and "rhythm and blues" music--did White disc jockey Alan Freed re-name it "rock `n' roll," and White artists entered the lucrative field without stigma.

How about Lenny Kravitz, and Tina Turner.
Thought of another old timer that I caught at a "House of Blues" concert once, Bo Diddly. I think some of his music gets classified as R&B but he was definately playing some rock at the concert I caught.
