the previous answers are really interesting. although I am an independent, and try not to affiliate myself with either of the two ideals. however, i lean towards more conservatism, then liberal. my husband is a bleeding heart liberal. go figure

I have read studies stating single women are liberal. Married either are more conservative or vote according to their husbands beliefs.

Single women tend to be liberal, married women are more conservative. The theory is that single women want the government to be their "husband" or to take care of them.
