I have seen questions today asking when "normal" people will get a pride parade, why do gay people keep coming out of the closet, and how uset would people get if we held "white entertainment awards".

Is logic dead now? These people are representative of those who for centuries held back women, black people and homosexuals. They have continuously worked to deny people their rights, their equal place in society, and have done all they could to strip away any sembance of human dignity from these people.

And then they have the unmitigated gall to act confused and ask why "these people" won't just be quiet and quit complaining?" I have to tell you friends, I just don't understand some people.

cassandra adn drdr2: You both make some good points. However, if any group of people have their rights curtailed it is to expected that they will rise up and demand those rights. Would not any of us do the same?

I guess it depends on whom you talk to, people who are homophobic honestly don't get why homophobia is wrong, I've seen a women argue that women shouldn't be in the army because she wouldn't be - I've also seen gays argue against gay parenting because they wouldn't so it's like some people feel the need to impose thier views on everyone and then don't get how wrong that is. I've also had to attempt to explain to morons how if you deny people equality then you are letting them be discriminated against.
Some don't get why people are loud when fighting for equality and respect, it's easier to bully those who never fight back or complain
Edit: I also think that people don't try to empathise with others as much as is needed to understand. people never think what it's like to receive so much hatred, I've even seen blacks who won't admit that they are homophobic but the same few will moan if people are racist or they'll be very condescending and hypocritical.

Then why is there a PIMP ball???do not pimps represent the oppression of women??? I know I wonder how many would protest a white entertainment awards??I do not care if there are pride weeks or gay power or black power or what ever power . I really think the "power " should be changed to "empower" but what do I know, I am just a white old guy with the unmitigated gall not really to care what the hub- bub is about race ,religion ,sexual preference or gender. We are all on the earth actually to get along. Wow what a concept, everyone just living and not pointing fingers....nah never happen too many agendas..too bad

Here is the problem I have. Isn't the point of all the protests to be able to have the same rights as everybody else and not be persecuted or segregated? OK, so why segregate yourselves by having a "Black Entertainment Award". That is self-segregation. And the gay pride parade? Is this really about civil rights? To have this ridiculous tradition? I am sorry. I am a bi-sexual and as a dark-skinned Greek I have met up with prejudice in my life, but all I have ever wanted is to be tretaed like everybody else and have the same rights and opportunities. I don't need my own award category, my own parade, or an overwhelming need to draw attention to myself. I want to live free and be myself and not belong to one group any more than I belong to the human race.

Hey Toffee, I think there some attempts to logic, or some eras in which it dominated, but logic was and is always the first thing to go out of the window. Perhaps because it is not rooted enough in us.

What is logic for one is not for the other. I don't understand some people either, but then again I don't understand many things of myself either. It's a fascinating adventure :)

i think it's because it would be nice for us all to be equal, instead of giving certain groups special treatment.

in my area, the native canadians get so many things by the government to help them have a better life (which is a good thing) but at the same time, it's frustrating that some people who also need help don't get it because they're white.

equality would be ideal

Ignorance and Racism, like cockroaches will outlive us all.

Unfortunately, when i say love and tolerance is our code, i only speak for myself and a handful of others. I dont know if its all about logic....
for me it is about respect and
Tolerance

The most lovable quality any human being can possess is tolerance. ….
It is the vision that enables one to see things from another’s viewpoint….
It is the generosity that concedes to others the right to their own opinions and their own peculiarities…..
It is the bigness that enables us to let people be happy in their own way instead of our way.

Amen to that.....I completely understand your sentiment.

But to answer your question,"Is logic dead", I would have to say that since the beginning of time there have been idiots, morons and fools. And present day is no exception.

Hon, this really goes along with the question asking if "stupidity" is rampant.

My answer has not changed.

it is unfortunate that some people do not use the brains they were born with and even worse that bigots are able to sway these mindless sheep with simple words to spread their hate.
