I have a daughter in 8th grade, who is very dedicated to her acting. We feel that she is at a point now to start looking for an agent. (She has done small TV work and a lot of theater).
Does anyone know any GOOD agencies in the NY, CT, NJ, MA, NH, VT area? Or, any good acting summer camps, weekend classes (not too too expansive).
Thank you very much

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent your daughter for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are plenty on the East Coast particularly in NY.

Then you can send them her headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

As for the camps, in my experience they've all be costly, but everyone's definition of that is different. NY has Camp Broadway, there's one at Tisch, but many of them have already started for this summer. I would suggest going to the websites for each program and checking out what each program entails, whether or not they have any that start later in the summer, and if any location suits your needs better than another. Some have staff profiles as well.

I don't have any personal experience with these camps so I can't begin to tell you for certain which one is better, perhaps someone on the East Coast does? There are online forums such as at musicals.net, musicaltheareaudition.com, etc. where you could ask as well.

Good luck!

For finding agents get a copy of the Ross Reports, it's a complete listing of all agencies and films accepting mail ins right now.
For summer camps I highly recommend the Pre-College Summer Institute at University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She may have to wait a year until after she finishes 9th grade but it's well worth it. There's so much to do and you learn so much!

there is not any such element as a expertise scout, and actually, brokers hardly ever settle for commencing up actors. For fashions, your adventure does not actually matter variety. in case you intend to publish to companies as an actor, you're able to extra powerful have adventure and coaching first. this implies you're able to connect some appearing classes and get into community theatre. As for modeling, examine what the enterprise calls for. maximum in simple terms want you to publish 2-3 nonreturnable photos. you will stumble on some real companies on the SAG/AFTRA web content. yet a splash suggestion for you... you're able to do your learn before shifting into something. in case you do no longer, you will get scammed returned. stable good fortune.
