The other day, my grandfather pointed out that my gap is relatively large. (About 1/2 inch) We thought it might be something genetic, but I've checked both sides of my family to no avail. Most of my family has either no gap (The toes actually touch) or a small gap. (less than 1/4 inch) Anyone else have a gap?

The gap between my big toe and my second toe only appears at the base where there's a gap big enough to slot in an end of an ordinary Staedtler Noris 120 2B pencil (whereas the upper parts my toes touch one another). I thought my gap was big as I wear flip-flops and thong-style footwear.

mine's about a 1/4 inch. none of my toes touch at all. it's odd

I don't have a gap or maybe 1 mm.
