a strong reason to lie

You don't need to justify your reasons to lie or tell the truth. But if you had to, it kinda depends on the situation. For example, you might have a strong reason to lie if you cheated on your girlfriend. And you might have a strong reason to say the truth if you were a witness to domestic abuse. It really does depend on your morals/integrity and doing what you think is right.

We don't need a strong reason to lie...in fact, in our American culture, lies are the norm. It's truth that takes a backseat. Telling the truth often gets us into more trouble. Although, in the long run, truth will always find us out. It is the one thing we all seek everyday of our lives...it sets us free, it puts us back on track, and though it doesn't always give us peace, it is the one thing that helps us sleep better at night. Telling the truth is the first step to integrity! The journey's end of Integrity is something that lies will never take us to.

I think this depends on the integrity of the person. A person that is generally straight forward and honest would need a strong reason to tell a lie because that would be outside of his/her normal reaction to immediately spit out the truth. The opposite applies to a person that lies often.

i think we need a strong reason to tell the truth. As humans, we are biased to take the "easy" route. Sometimes the truth is hard to tell and lies are much easier for us. To tell the truth would be to go against the willpower to just day anything to get yourself out of a tight spot and not to create problems, which is a strong force.

I believe that there is always a stong reason to lie....depending on the circumstance.......we have all lied at one point or the other, and if you actually think about it we usually have a strong enough reason to lie, this doesnt mean that your a bad person but just that you'd rather not share your person life and experiences with everyone who asks.

No reason needed. Lie or tell the truth as you will without having to justify the choice.

Hi!

I would assume that we only lie to someone if we care about the consequences, and that's one of the reasons why it is easier to be honest to a stranger than to be honest to someone we care about. Sure, honesty is the best policy with loved ones, but that does not change the fact that we do not want to hurt them, and, we do not want them to hurt us! If my daddy knew what I was *really* doing with my buddy Sam, he would have put his foot so far up my butt, I'd still be tasting my own s***! Sure, and I'll get a lot of shoes thrown at me for this bit of honesty, but I think it takes a lot more courage and incentive to be honest to a loved one than it does to be honest to a stranger. So, a strong reason to lie to those we want to protect, and as the consequences of being caught in a lie are always worse than the fit they throw when told the truth, an even stronger incentive to tell the truth... Though we may not be honest enough to ourselves to realize that the truth will hurt both people a lot less. (*Caveat: Leave the past actions you will not repeat a secret... Unless it will affect the health and safety of someone other than ourselves, we are all entitled to make mistakes we learn from, and learning from our mistakes means we will not repeat them. Confession never heals anyone but the confessor, and usually sets him or her up for later reprisals from those he or she confessed to.*)

I think it goes either way. But for the most part, I think alot of people need a strong reason to tell the truth.

Here's my reasoning.

People tell lies on the daily basis for no reason what so ever.
Example: I'm in class one day and a girl ask "I'm looking for that quote about blah blah blah does anybody know what page that's on?" and a kid two seats down says, "I'm on that page" and she looks to him for the answer and his answer was "Well, I'm almost on that page."

I'm thinking...ok so why did you lie? Would it have been so bad to say, "I'm almost on that page."? or "Its around blah part."?

Now I know plenty of people who don't lie like that but for the most part, as a human race we just tend to lie about insignificant things, thus giving me the impression, we need a reason to tell the truth even if it's small...we need SOME reason.

I believe most people lie when they are backed into a corner and can't see how telling the truth is the best answer. I think they know its the best answer, but sense they cannot see the result then they lie.
