i knew someone who drank it to make the dts go away

2 different instances:
1. When I was just out of highschool, my best friend (a girl) was dating a total loser and he drank nyquill and robitussin. He said that it got you all messed up and he would halucinate. That was 18 years ago. She is still with him and he is still a drug addict.
2. A buddy of mine was in the Army and he said that the troops would take nyquill out on Bivowac (sorry if I spelled that wrong), so that when they camped out at night, they could all catch a buzz. I'll stick with beer, thanks.

Back in 92, 93 and 94 if all my friends drank all the wine and beer on Saturday night. On Sunday they didn't sell alcohol till noon, I had to go get a bottle of Ny-Quil at 6 AM to keep from going into DT's. Sick yes, But very true.

Not NyQuil, that's plum crazy; but the codeine-loaded cough medicine my doc prescribes - Woowhee, that'll put some buzzing dreams on your pillow.

yeah it's the DM (i can't spell out the full name right now, but it is commonly referred to as DM anyway) and perhaps to some degree the pseudoephederine that people get BUZZED ON. crazy is right! feels horrible. once when i was sick i took that NyQuill crap as directed, and by the 3rd day i swear i was seeing 3D geometric shapes hovering above me (in black and white, not day-glow lsd) which was pretty annoying. i won't touch that garbage, my body chemistry does not groove to it at all. urgh..

I didn't know them personally.. But yes, when I worked security in Downtown Minneapolis, and St.Paul, there were homeless people that would steel it from the drug stores and drink it to get drunk.. But then they also stole other things that were even worse for the same reason.. Yes it was crazy and sort of unnerving when you thought about it..
