Hiya Ash,

To get it back and keep it back do this:

1. Press the Windows Key on your keyboard, this should pop up your Start Menu. The Taskbar with the clock and icons may still be hidden by AUTO HIDE or after an accidental resizing.

2. With Win98 you can use the mouse to change the thickness of the Taskbar but sometimes you can accidentally change the size to nothing by dragging it toward the edge of the screen and letting go. If this is the case, rebooting to Safe Mode will bring it back.

3. Once you are back in Windows and you have the Taskbar and Start Menu working normally you should make sure the AUTO HIDE is set the way you want it. Click the Start Button or press the Windows key, then click SETTINGS and then click Taskbar & Start Menu. This will open the Taskbar properties applet which allows you to set a few options. Now you can uncheck the box next to Auto hide, which will prevent the Taskbar from disappearing.

GOOD LUCK!!

It is probably just hiding.

If you move the mouse down to the bottom of the screen does it come back? You may need to try the sides and top in case it got moved and is hidden.

If it is hidden and you want to keep it visible, then move the mouse onto it, left click and select properties. Somewhere there should be a tick box for Autohide. Click on that and click O.K.

If it does not pop up when you move the mouse to all edges of the screen, then maybe this is your computer telling you to get a better OS.

Did you try pressing 'F11'? Other wise... turn your pc off and on again, and if it's not sorted press the 'windows' button on your keyboard and go into 'control panel' etc etc...Click on 'start menu' and check the box that says 'always show task bar on top' (or something like that.)
