YES, ME AND MY FAMILY WERE ACTUALLY IN THE MAY 3RD TORNADO THAT HIT MOORE,OK ABOUT 9 YEARS AGO. I WAS SCARRED TO DEATH! EVERYTHING WAS FLYING AROUND. ALL YOU COULD SMELL WAS NATURAL GAS FROM BROKEN LINES. PEOPLE WERE SCREAMING AND CRYING. IT WAS THE MOST HORRENDOUS THING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED, AND HOPE TO NEVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH ANYTHING LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN!!

I've lived through a few minor earthquakes, a tornado hit our town when I was a teenager, and I live in New England so blizzards are an occurance that happen every winter along with nor'easters. I've been in several hurricanes and every summer we get tons of severe thunderstorms. As a matter of fact we are under a severe thunder storm warning right now. It says these storms are severe, capable of poducing golf ball sized hail, torrential downpours, cloud to ground lightening and 60 mph wind gusts. If you are outdoors when this storm approaches seek shelter immediatly as these storms can and occasionally to produce tornadoes. Oh yea. I hate these storms, and it sucks when its 2 in the afternoon and it gets so dark outside that the street lamps go on. Right now its night time so its dark anyways. I would much rather be in a blizzard in the dead of winter than deal with these stupid storms. I would even rather be driving in sleet and freezing rain than put up with these storms lol.

A couple of small twisters, and more hurricanes and tropical storms than I can probably recall, as I'm on the Gulf Coast. Lived through Katrina too, the only damage at my house was my fence being blown down, although it blew the roof partially off of one room in another (rental) house we owned at that time.
I did spend some time with relatives in North MS as a kid, and we had some small earthquakes there every now and then from the New Madrid fault, but nothing really noteworthy.

Hurricane Jerry in 1989, although it was a small one. I was also in the middle of the Hurricane Rita inspired largest evacuation in the history of the US. What a nightmare that was. Took 22 hours to make what's normally a 2 hour trip.
Also survived several non-hurricane strength tropical storms that caused some severe flooding and had several tornadoes close (but fortunately not too close) to my house growing up in Oklahoma.

I'M old, and you get a lot of opportunities as you get older. The Columbus Day Storm in 1963, Pacific Northwest was the biggest typhoon (Pacific Hurricane) in the 20th Century in the N.W. Lost LOTS of giant evergreen trees. A couple of little earthquakes, then in 1984, we had 10 inches of rain in two hours in Zaragoza, Spain, and the wall of mud 4 feet deep came right through the Air Base. Nobody died. Same type storm hit San Antonio Texas in 1997 or 8 (10 inches in 4-6 hours) major floods. and I was just missed by three lightniing strikes, one in Ft Riley Kansas that blasted a tree right next to me, and two on the Bridge of the AMericas, in Panama City Panama, on the same day. One dropped the light pole on my truck, one hit the guardrail as I drove past. That's all. Keep your head down. Steve, stationed in Iraq.

I lived through an F3 tornado which hit my high school May 4, 1999. We were all in the school when the tornado hit, but luckily nobody was killed. Houses, our school and businesses were destroyed. It was really scary. I still have nightmares, and storms really freak me out.
