I don't hate Americans. On what do you base that information on? (I'm from the UK).
Reading the responses, why the heck would be jealous of Americans? It sounds as if Americans hate every other country reading these responses.

I am posting this answer for a second time. I still believe it is true.
Jealousy is only a small part of it, very small.
I believe it because we are so introverted in our beliefs, coupled with how much power we wield over others.
The soul of America has always been isolationist, wanting to go our own way and disregard the outside world entirely. Two world wars later, we found we could no longer ignore other nations, and we took our place in international affairs. But it has never been a comfortable fit. The truth is we don't honestly care about other cultures and countries. Sad but true.
Too often we have assisted other nations to protect our interests, or to assuage our guilt. That detracts from our acts of real humanitarianism, and there have been many of those.
The international community is also very disappointed, because they want a leader, a hero, and that is not us, nor should it be. They want us to provide direction to the free world, and instead we elect a president who does not think or speak effectively. They feel let down.
Right now, the world sees us as a selfish and self-righteous bully, throwing our weight around willy-nilly, using too much of the world's resources, and swamping their cultures with an insipid culture of shallow entertainment which spreads like a computer virus.
This, too, is a slanted picture, and they are unfair when they see us in such a one-dimensional way. But I feel it is the only answer to your question.

well, let me first say that people from around the world didn't always hate america. We used to have all the new things it was the freedom that this country offred.
Many thing were great till the new millenium started. We had the best economic expansion under bill clinton and we made peace in the middle east.
Then came Bush as our president. I would have to say according to recent opinion polls that he scrutinized the image of america all over the world with this god forsaken war. As a result many people feared america in a sense. This made strnger countries and one with a voice speak up about how bad this country is and many other small countries followed. That takes us to today.
There is also the matter of religion. All over the world there have been ethnic conflicts for decades, but when bush came along made the atmosphere more tense and war like. Everything else was great before him.
Yep ,so that 's why people from other countries hate america. By the way nice avatar!!!

Well, there are many reasons, but topping it off with a loosely strung answer, how about.
"You are an arrogent bunch of fat headed rednecks, who think everyone not American is worthless, and with no real Americans as such, you butchered the indians, remember, you look down on high, and from that heaped pile of shite you call a democracy, you piss on the world".
Mind you, look around, America the great is slipping into it's own pile of shite, rapidly becoming powerless, as a result of you lot tolerating the Bush cun*s of the world, and soon to be a secomd if not third world power.

I didn't know that EVERYBODY hates America - I suspect there are a number of people in every country who hate other countries, but please don't generalise, because not everybody hates America. I don't for one.
It would be like me saying - all Americans don't realise that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the same in size as one third of Texas - but I suspect there are many Americans who are indeed aware of this.

There aren't that many people in the world who HATE the US.
What there is are a majority who have a whole big bundle of sensible reasons to DISLIKE the US Government.
For example:
- The United States supports obnoxious regimes for its own selfish purposes, notably in Latin America, the Middle-East and South-East Asia. It has funded, and continues to fund armed coups against democratically elected Governments it disagrees with. It funded the Contras in Nicaragua in the 1980s who killed over 30,000 civilians. It funded the coups that swept away democratically elected governments in Iran, Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia and Columbia and replaced them with military dictatorships. This is even more striking considering the US does out of it's way to preach and harangue countries about democracy.
- The US ignores global opinion and consesus, unless it serves their interests. It has pulled out of Kyoto, the ABM treaty, the land mine treaty and the 1972 Biological Weapons convention, for no other reason that American economic interests come before the health and security of the rest of the world.
- The US only looks out for its own interests, irrespecive of the cost to anyone else. The US contains 4% of the world's population but produces about 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions. By comparison, Britain emits 3% - about the same as India which has 15 times as many people.
- The USA is one of the richest countries in the world but also one of the stingiest. US manages to give just 0.1% of GDP as aid. Over 50% of its aid budget is spent on middle-income countries in the Middle East. 80% of US aid goes direct to American companies in those foreign countries (e.g. Bechtel and Haliburton). The US also cannot seem to afford to pay any of it's UN dues (it hasn't paid any for over a decade), then expects the UN to be at it's beck and call.
- Let's face it - you're just damn arrogant. For reference, despite what Hollywood tells you, the USA did NOT save Europe in World War 2. Russia, France and the UK were the principal opponents of Germany (aided by US equipment that these countries are still paying for 60 years later). The US's entry to the war was forced, not chosen (by Pearl Harbour) and it's motives were self-defence not world-wide good. The 3 major turning points in defeaing the Nazis were Stalingrad (won by the Russians), the Battle of Britain (won by the Brits aided by the Poles and the Free French) and El Alamein (won by the Brits).
- What is the whole deal with the "leader of the free world" thing? I'm a member of the so-called "free world" (and probably a lot free-er than you in the US) and guess what - you're not my leader. We didn't choose you, or ask you to "lead" us. We democratically elect our own leaders, thanks very much.
We get that a lot of these opinions about the US being the best, the leaders of the free world and believing that the rest of the world hates you, are a result of exposure to an uncritical US media. The fact is many Americans don't know what their government is doing abroad, they don't know that the rest of the world is international or that most developed countries have news services that cover the whole world, critically. They are led, in a culture of patriotism and flag-waving, to believe that the only reasons for disliking American must be hatred of freedom, or envy.

Because the US wants to police the World and invade countries without a reason. Iraq was a joke. A joke that had nothing to do with terrorists, or protecting America. We also treat international prisoners bad, but we say we don't. We also own the U.N. We shouldn't. We should be governed by their rules like everyone else. We're also lazy and most of us only speak 1 language.

America's Covenant With Israel - A Pact With The Devil
http://www.rense.com/general69/dev.htm
Like Siamese twins, the United States and Israel are joined at the hip, both physically and philosophically. Collectively, the United States and Israel comprise the most prolific terrorist states on earth. The U.S. provides five billion dollars annually to Israel, which is the largest beneficiary of U.S. foreign aid on earth. Most of that money is used by the Israeli government to purchase high tech weapons, munitions, and other implements of terror and death. We do not help the world's helpless and poor-we arm Israel. We do it because it is a lucrative business and it furthers our goal of hegemony in the Middle East.
Outside of the dumbed down American public, the rest of the world is well aware of the violent and brutal nature of US foreign policy. That policy has given rise to the widespread use of imprisonment, torture, assassination, political coups and a global network of CIA operated gulags. Abu Graiab and other US torture facilities smack of Israeli influence. This is what the state of Israel does to its political enemies and we are following suit. Both nations have a track record of extensive human rights violations; and both are appalling.
Because of its close ties with the US, Israel is essentially the fifty-first state of the US. Whatever the political aims of the US, it shares them in common with Israel. The Israeli influence upon US foreign policy is both profound and troubling. The Israeli political lobby in the US is deeply entrenched and active. Regardless how horribly Israel behaves toward Arabs; it is beyond reproach by the high priests of power and corruption operating the US government.

It is not just a question of hatred, it is also with annoyance and a feeling of disgust with the way in which the US of A parade's and presents itself as the worlds super power.
It is a very offensive, arrogant and confrontational attitude. The same attitude appears to permeate through to the people of the US of A, who generally exhibit the same characteristics.
You believe you are superior to all and this conceited attitude is why you are disliked by the majority of the world.
You have big mouth's, big ego's, big cars, big houses, big military budgets, big ambitions......but you have tiny brains!!!!
