The only ones I've ever seen with dual batteries from the factory are the police editions. I had an '02 with heavy duty towing package, etc. and it only had one battery.

I have only seen about five of these. This is a trailer towing option that was ordered when the truck came from the factory. The factory offered this as a option in the tow package.Very few tahoes have this option.Hope this helps.

It's likely you have a towing package on your truck. If you use battery power from a camper, etc. One battery will not be used so you can always have enough battery power to start your truck. I think some diesel engine trucks have two batteries also.

GM only puts two batteries on their super duty diesels. Your second battery is not factory installed.

You must have ordered the trailer towing package to get some other heavy duty components.

is it a diesel engine? older styles use them to run the glow plugs that help to warm your engine kind of like spark plugs

It must be a diesel engine, Diesels need 2 batteries to start the engine. unless a back-up battery is being used for some added things to the vehicle.
