I've been wondering that for a while, because i've seen two kinds of emos, those who don't have a future neither money, and those who are so wealthy that they don't have to worry about their looks, because they wont really need a job.
Also the low class emos don't go to college, or they study something like sociology or political science. And they dress however they want because they actually hate everything....
And the wealthy emos, their families are wealthy, they have their bands and stuff, and they don't give f*** cause they don't have to, and they study something in the "design" field.
Most people in my university just look either average, nerdy or preppy...i was the only emo in my engineering faculty, so i felt kinda out of place, so i just prepped up.
So the low class emos might be, and most are white trash...
But i can't seem to find any strict like relation between both groups(emos and white trash), I just made that up in my head....so what do you think.

ok, some things to clarify
1. as white trash, i mean the concept, low class, they can be hispanic, white, nordic, assian, black, whatever
2. when you're young you need to express how you feel...emos do it by looking sad or depressed....but they can also just wanna look emo cuz they think emo is cool, it is something you identify with, but it got somehow over that, and now ppl think that emo clothes is cool and they pose as emos. And i want to find out if it still is the same "unconformity with the world", or if it became one more trend...but ghetto...

strange how blatant someones background is to you. Where i am from alot of my friends are emos, but none of them seem to be particularly well off. neither am i. I dont really know of anyone who is. apart from the private school kids, but they are wierd, foreign, and too up themselves to talk to us... their loss.
anyway, no, i dont think emos are white trash

I must be mistaken..isn't an "emo" just a look? It would be as if to say "what kind of person wears a comb over?" or "what kind of person shaves his head?"
The problem with our culture (if we have one) is that we don't get past the exterior. If we crack the shell and just strike-up a conversation with someone that looks completely different than ourselves, we would discover we all desire the same things: food, a place to stay, pleasure, lack of pain, long life, healthy kids or pets, a significant other.

NO... I know many blacks and hispanics who are "emo"...
people who dress the way they feel are just conformists trying to pretend that they are not conformists...
What rational person would actuall Dress how they Feel....that doesn't even make sence...

emo's who dress crazy but spend 60 or 70 dollars on a pair of emo-type pants are just trying to fit-in the emo-style....

You are putting too much thought into this...trends, like "being emo" are silly and once you get yourself a mortgage and a family of your own you won't care either way...because every day you wake up you will be more concerned about the health and well-being of your loved ones, paying your bills and advancing your life--one day things like Paris Hilton's every move, or catfights between political pundits will mean nothing to you...and then you will realize that you have aged...
