my powercord burneditlookslike i have an old dell laptop and i went to the dell site and i guess more people have had isseus with that cord...but i didnt see solutions to what new cord i should get someone talked about a PA6 OR PA9 whatever that means..........?? the model # on the cord is AA20031
im wondering if i can just go to fry's electronics and buy one?? or what!

The power supply must be compatable with the pc's need. Check the old power supply and see what it provided. Usually you will see the DC voltage and DC amps or DC voltage and DC watts which are critical as you must have the same DC volts and at least as much amps or watts as the original. It must also fit the laptop's power port.

Most reputable electronic component houses can help you.

You could go buy a universal power cord at Fry's, sure.

Just make sure you buy one that is compatible with that model, it will be listed on the back of the packaging.

Otherwise, if a lot of people are having the same problem, DELL will probably replace it for free if you contact them and tell them you know it is a known issue.

Try checking to your nearest PC stores and ask the Technicians if they got a similar cord, what is important is the Input power of the cord.

Do you have a local flea market / Goodwill / Value Village or any type of thrift store near by? You'd be surprised how many parts and pieces you can find there. It will take some digging, but it would also be a LOT cheaper.
