Transpose 3n

19 - 3n + 3n = 2n + 3n

19 = 5n

Divide both sides of the equation by 5

19 / 5 = 5n / 5

19/5 = n

3 4/5 = n

The distributive property

2a - 8 + 4 = 45 - 5a

2a - 4 = 45 - 5a

Transpose 5a

2a - 4 + 5a = 45 - 5a + 5a

7a - 4 = 45

7a - 4 + 4 = 45 + 4

7a = 49

Divide both sides of the equation by 7

7a / 7 = 49 / 7

a = 49 / 7

a = 7
