To answer the question, most pharmaceutical companies have programs to help people obtain meds they cannot afford.

Figure out who makes the med you take for depression, then contact the maker via their website. It's usually a tiny bit of paperwork and they'll start sending the meds to the doctor who prescribed them for you.

Depression is a real illness! It is a chemical imbalance in the brain! Yes, if you become disabled due to depression you can get a check to help you pay for your med.'s But you have to apply for disability and have your Dr. prove that you are suffering from clinical depression.Sometimes it can take a long time to get started on disability checks. Good luck!

No. However, if you have insurance then most meds are really inexpensive, ranging from $5 to 15$ for generics; Wal-Mart (regardless of what people may think of them) had a program offering meds for $4 if you switch to their pharmacy.
If you don't have insurance, perhaps you can go through your state's Department of Mental Health (a subset of Health & Human Services) to have low-cost medication.
