ASSuming you meant the "Late Unpleasantness" or "War of Northern Aggression" I would offer two of the most important battles of the war: Vicksburg, MS. (Cut the Mississippi River and opened the Way to Atlanta and Franklin, TN. destroyed the Army of Tennessee.

If you mean World War two, you have
"Monte Casino" in Italy
"Operation Market Garden" in the Netherlands
"Operation Overlord" (D-Day)
"The Battle of Britain" (Britains defence from the Luftwaffe raids that effectively stopped the Nazi invasion )
If you mean World War one, you have
"Passchendale"
"Somme"
"Ypres"
"Cambrai" (the first tank deployment)
Most of the battles of WW1 had multiple actions (I think Passchendale is also known as the 3rd battle of Ypres)
