Verizon does provide DSL service and now they're offering FiOS, a fiber optic broadband connection.

I would not get Verizon Internet service. I had Verizon Wireless Internet service with DSL and it was HORRIBLE! The customer service was HORRIBLE! And I ended up paying so much money for something that never worked very well in the end. If anything I would go with a cable company in your local area. A cable modem is so much better than Verizon Internet service. Don't waste your time with Verizon. They're just going to rip you off anyways!!!

I have it and it is worth it. It included a wireless modem which was easy to set up. So I have my TIVOs and computers running off of it. In the 2 years I have been using it, it was down (their problem) maybe 24 hours. In an ice storm this past winter, my DSL was working while cable and electric were out for 2 days. I have the DSL modem plugged into a back up power supply and was able to use my laptop the whole time.

If you have Verizon as your phone carrier, and if you are close enough to the Verizon DSLAM you can get DSL. Not everyone is close enough to the DSLAM to get DSL. DSL speeds drop as the distance from the DSLAM increases.

The speed you can get is dependant upon the distance from DSLAM and only Verizon can tell you this.

Verizon is a decent provider as are many others.

If you are too far for DSL, there are other options from the Telco but they cost more.

Cable TV services usually also offer Internet service; they tend to be faster than DSL and more costly too.

I had their DSL. It was slow, but the price was right. I recently moved out of their area, so I have sprint, which is faster, but I pay more now. :~(

If you can get it for 20-30 a month it's worth it if you aren't in a rush. Otherwise, cable isn't too much more these days.

If you can, get the verizon fios. It is ridiculously fast.

I have Verizon, and it is a good service... I would say that it is worth it becuase the service runs through your phone lines, and not your cable or electric service. Thus, should you have some kind of power failure, you will still be able to connect your laptop...

we had the verizon internet service with the wireless modem. it was BAD. we kept having to reboot the computer as the connection kept going dormant. to keep the thing running we had to keep opening browers and/or refreshing pages. don't waste your money. get road runner

BTW: verizon customer service has become so bad that you don't want to put yourself in a situation in which you gotta call them. save yourself the headache and get something else. even dial-up is BETTER than verizon!!! verizon SUCKS the big one!!

I have it work and at home, I like it a lot better than dial up. But I have heard that cable is much quicker. But if you prefer the verizon online it to me is worth it. Tina

No, Verizon is DSL and you need to have a phone line for that. At least in my area it is. Maybe you should check with them for your particular area.
