I consider myself to be both open minded and closed minded at the same time. I'm open to all ideas and philosophies but I'm not so open minded that I believe everything I hear/read. I'm closed minded in the sense that I weed out malarkey and hold tight to my "core" beliefs that make me who I am.

I don't think you can be both at the same time. You can certainly have your conservative/liberal opinions on various subjects and I think everyone is like that. But in order to be open minded you need to be willing and receptive to anything without judgment or bias. Realistically speaking, it's a lot harder than it sounds.
