Dead? NOT A CHANCE!
People are retarded thinking everything HAS to be new and modern! If it weren't for the 80's there would be very little of what we have today! You couldn't have spoken more true!
Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Guns n' Roses---dead? Like hell

I agree without the bands of the 80 we would not have the bands today, just like 80's were influenced by the 60's and 70's, I love the band from the 80's they were actual bands not put together pop singer with no talent other than singing, where are the actual bands those are becoming a dying breed

I think that 80's rock isn't dead. I was watching Rock Fest on VH1 Classic Rock and I was looking at all the bands with the guys in their tight jeans long hair and some with make-up and I was like that looks like some bands of today. And then I was like wow everything is coming back and I agree without classic rock bands we wouldn't have Fall Out Boy or P!ATD.

Please, the 80s WILL NEVER DIE! Not as long as people like myself and some others on here I have met are still around! To whoever dissed whitesnake, what a mistake. They had such great songs. Unlike the crap that is out now, all a bunch of whiny wannabes. Please, I agree with you that without classic rock bands like Whitesnake or Bon Jovi, bands now would not be the same!
Hair bands were a real pump-me-up. Like, I could and still can count on a great hair band ballad or high energy song to get me going. Actually, ALL 80s keeps me goin through the day! No matter if it is Ratt or Whitesnake or anything 80s rock to pop.

I don't think so, the 80s are over , but today especially with with the internet more people are discovering all those old bands. I was a toddler in the 80s so I'd say about 75% of the 80s bands i've discovered I've discovered after 1999.
So NO, lots of young people today listen to 80s metal/rock/synth. Also, people who write of a style of music just because it's old are just plain ignorant. Why should I force myself to listen to Hawthrone Heights just because they are new?

Sadly, it's dead. 80s was the golden era of ROCK!!!!!! It SHULD be brought back. ALL the greatest rock songs came from the 80s. Especially Van Halen???? COME ON!!!!! The 2000s only have Emoish songs, which kinda sucks. But compared to the 80s, emos do not stand a chance.

Certain 80's rock should be dead (cough cough, Whitesnake) but unlike what most people think, the 80's acually had some pretty awsome rock (mostly punk and alternative, and some metal) and I would love to have real punk come back. Even through I don't like hair metal, you gotta admit their guitarist were 50 times better than the mainsteam guitarist today, We need rockers who can play instuments well back into the rock scene.

It should be regarded as classic rock..much like jazz has it's classic songs and that only the original artist can do ( peggy lee, fever). Clearly without 80's rock we wouldn't have any of the artists today. It is responsible sparking creativity and innovation. As long as people take it for what it is a classic form of rock and not a main stream attraction.
