Hey, whats up? Have you been through all of Stephen Kings stuff? If so try Clive Barker. One of favorite authors right know, actually 2 authors, James Patterson and Jeffrey Deaver. Patterson is more suspense, but he is an awesome writer and his stuff reads fast, you'll be done with one his novels in no time. Hope this helps.....

To you I would recommend Bag of Bones by Stephen King. It's billed as a "haunted love story," and has both the scary and romance elements you're looking for.

How about Mercedes Lackey's Diana Tregarde series? The really nasty stuff takes place off page, but in the 3 books (Burning Water was 1st published, but Children of the Night is set 1st chronologically--&, I think, is the scariest. Jinx High is the last), there are psi-vamps, gakkis (sp???--Japanese demons), witches, Mexican gods, and one extremely sexy vampire (oooh, Andre...).
Diana Tregarde is a romance author by day (so to speak), but a Guardian, an occult protector/investigator, the rest of the time. She has magic, as well.

Stephen King is always good for a read (personally I prefer his older stuff, to his newer stuff)... Anne Rice The Mayfair Witches books are always fun.... "Darkside: Horror For the New Millenium" - collection of short stories, edited by John Pelan .... The Blackstone Chronicles (not really uber scary, but still a vaguely interesting read) by John Saul.
How about Robert R. McCammons stuff?

"The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson is a very good ghost story. Here's a link to the book's page at Wikipedia, in case you're interested (but beware, the page has spoilers!): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Haunting_of_Hill_House
Good luck and happy reading! :-)

I recommend the "In the Garden" trilogy by Nora Roberts. The three books in the series are "Blue Dahlia", "Black Rose", and "Red Lily" - they have a mix of romance, drama, humor, and a haunting! I really enjoyed these books! Give them a try.
