The burning of the ancient library at Alexandria, Egypt.
It burned more than once but lets just say it would be sooo
intriguing to have all that material available now.

I would go back to about 1962 and take copies of almanacs, newspapers.. pictures.. and video a dvd player with all the information I could gather.. and get it to President John Kennedy.

There wouldn't have been a War in Vietnam.. no Iraq Wars.. no 911.. I think Kennedy's outlook was for advancing humanity.. he started the Peace Corps too.. ; - )

I would convince the victorious allies in the first world war to treat the losers with generosity. Instead of war reparations, the Treaty of Versailles would encourage the unification of Europe and establish a strong League of Nations.

No Hitler. No mass murders in Europe. No Israel, but with continued integration (and secularization) of Jews in European society, no great need for a Zionist state, either.

Of course, the world would probably be so different that no one under 60 who is reading this forum would have been born. The world we have, including our presence in it, depends on lots of little coincidences (our parents meeting, say) that almost would have turned out differently.

9/11. Then we wouldn't have all those soldiers in Iraq, and we wouldn't have gas prices. 9/11 is just insane.
