If you look at the world wide rankings of universities (such as the Shanghai ranking) you will see that a large number of American univerisities are ranked among the best in the world. if you are from one of the top US universities - say the Ivies, Duke, Stanford, UChicago, MIT, Berkeley - then your degree is going to be accepted and respected at the highest level by knowledgable people around the world.

On the other hand, there are over 4000 universities in the the USA - if you went to a fourth tier, no name state u, then unfortunately your degree will not carry much weight in comparison to the respected UK and other world class institutions.

There isn't much you can do about that except try to show that you are better than your school so that you can get your foot in the door... Once you get hired and they see how well you perform, then the school you went to doesnt count for much anymore....

I did my graduate degree in the UK and I have an American undergraduate degree. I attended the University of Bristol, which is a very well respected university in the UK. I had no trouble with my admissions and was admitted rather quickly, actually. As for reference, I did my undergraduate degree at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. While at Bristol, I met other American students who were in the UK for their graduate degrees. So it is quite possible. If you had good grades and you get great recommendations from professors, you should be good to go.

As for finding a job in the UK after, well, unfortunately, that's a different story. Even with your qualifications, if you are not a citizen of an EU country, you would have to find a job with either the US government or with a US company. To work in Europe for a non US entity or an arm of the United Nations, the employer would need to apply for a work permit, which would entail them proving that there is no one in the European Union who can do that job as well as you can. So it is difficult to stay, though not impossible.

Good luck!

You have a degree from a reputable university, then you should be fine while trying to find a job in Europe. Some potential employers might prefer a degree from their country, but if you are a good qualified candidate, that is what will make their decision, not where your degree is from.

Good luck!

Our educational system is run by a strong union which only cares about how much $ they make, how little they can work and job security so they cant be fired no matter how poorly they teach. Its really degenerated into today's lawless classes where discipline is nonexistent and learning impossible. Most students are apathetic about learning by grade 6.
