I used to do competitve cheer so I can help you.
1. Make sure your squad is focused. You don't want your coach to get pissed off with you guys on the first day.
2. Work your hardest.
If you're tumbling and you......say your toes are flexed in your backhandspring-and she/he tells you to fix that. Then you say, "Okay. Thank You, I'll try that."
Then the next time you do a backhandspring, reallly focus on that detail. Then afterwards, ask your coach.
"Did I point my toes?"
3. Make sure everyone on your team is focused and working hard.
4. Show your coach that you are a good team. When you just finished a routine and your coach says, fix this, fix that.
When you're getting set for your next rountine, encourage your team by saying things like,
"Come on guys let's hit this routine!"
"Come on guys, focus, we can do this!"
"Focus on those details. Flyers stay tight, bases use your legs."
Good Luck with your new coach, I hope she/he will be great if you guys stay focused and take my advice.
Luv,
treehugger

Work very hard, give 110%. Be agreeable and open to new directive, sometimes we get set in only being a Base or flier & the coach may see an area she thinks you'll excel more in, be open to try it. and of course as always lots of spirit!!! A coach will always use a person more who is ready and willing for whatever they throw at them. Be flexible....in both ways :)

Work hard, have a can-do/will-try attitude, play nice with others, show up for practice on time every time..
All of that goes a long way toward keeping a coach happy.
