I was informed that siblings have been speaking to officials on my behalf do i need to get an attorney. He was in the military years ago (desert storm) he got dishonorable discharge because of mental issues. How do i find out if he had assets the family is not getting along with me?

You need to get a lawyer that specializes in estate law . You were married to this man and you have all the rights his family has no right to cut you out of anything you have all the rights consult an attorney now before you loose anything more . good luck .

Get verified from the department his dues to be received and then apply for it if you have been nominated by him and if not ask for succession certificate,engaging some attorney. Secondly you should know about his properties first for that you have to search his documents and ask the relatives and can publish in news paper that you are the sole owner of his properties and no one should deal with some other one.

since you have equal rights to his siblings, its best that you talk to a lawyer on this matter, you have every right to get the money you deserve, only that, you have to act quickly. If they would object to this, let the lawyer do the talking.
