Shouldn't the opposing factions in congress each clearly define what they consider amnesty and define what they would accept as not amnesty? The illigal immagration problem isn't going to go away, congress must be capable of resolving their differences on important issues, if not, what are our elected reps good for?

Good point. For me, amnesty means letting the illegal immigrants be legal for free. I'm not saying it is right or wrong, but that is my definition of amnesty. Anything else is different. In any case, you are right on. These things need to be define and logically considered. It would help if more people were inclined to pay attention. You can watch the debates and read the bill online. It is amazing to me how many people are on here spouting off on the issue and they don't even have all the facts. But if the reps can't seem to get their facts together, then what chance do the rest of us have? I don't know how you feel about it, but I think you are definitely right that this issue needs to be defined and settled one way or another.

Good Question..what are Elected Officials good for?...especially when they..turn a blind eye after they get into office. To me A politician is like a power hungry machine,..and the Senate and the House of Representatves is like a Country Club. The USA is not alone in its Social injustices,..Every nation under the sun.,..has those people of power who ..squash underfoot...those who oppose them...the only difference is that in the USA.,the squashing is usually done Through Taxation,..and unfair Labor practices, As far as Amnesty goes...to be given Amnesty or a pardon...one must first be accused of something..in the case of Illegals..just being in the USA...without proper Authorization and staying ..is Illegal. I am opposed to any Legistlation that rewards by granting"citizenship" to illegal immigrants..i dont care what country they are from...if they are here "illegally"..they are breaking the law...by last count 12million law breakers...and that is just the tip of the ice berg.

Well,

A lot of people I know hope for the best for their families, instead of living in fear of being caught by immigration. You are right, they are here illegal, no doubt in that, but shouldn't both nations be working for some kind of easier way to pass the border. I mean, when you cross to Mexico you don't need to show papers and you are free to roam, of course, Mexico is not the same as US, but with all these fees and permits to cross, it is rather easier to cross the river. Not standing in either side, only favoring that this will soon be settled.

To pay a fine for being here illegally, if and only if they do not have a criminal record. This issue is such a hotbed. I honestly don't know how it's going to be solved, but, we cannot open the borders to anyone and everyone who wants to come in. Our quality of life is going to suffer.
