There are no asteroids of 2,500 miles in diameter. Ceres, the largest, is about 975 kilometres, about 600 miles in diameter. About a quarter of the diameter you claim the new one has, or one sixty-fourth of the volume of this new one.

So does your new asteroid have a name? An orbit and a current position in that orbit? Who discovered it and when? And why has NASA not given it an assessment as regards how potentially hazardous it might be?

And how come nobody has ever heard of it until today? Didn't you wonder about any of that? Didn't you feel you needed proof? Not even a photograph?

When it isn't headline news in every newspaper tomorrow morning, how much credibility will this report have then?

There is nothing we could do. Lucky for us that the largest asteroid in the solar system is only about 600 miles in diameter. And even luckier is that the largest asteroid in an Earth crossing orbit is only about 10 miles wide. So there is zero chance any asteroid larger than 10 miles will ever hit Earth. If we were tracking a 10 mile wide asteroid and had 20 years warning, there is a chance we could deflect it. But there is no way we could do anything about an asteroid with only a few days warning, no matter how small it is. And there is no way we could deflect a 2,500 mile asteroid (if one existed), no matter how much warning we had.

I think the astronomers would notice something 2500 miles in diameter a bit sooner.

Time to aim the nukes though. Blow it into enough small parts that either miss the earth or disintigrate in the atmosphere

Sorry I can't believe you. There hasn't been anything about this on national news all week. I think something this big would have been announced and would have been known long ago. Nice try.

If it were to happen, I'd stand outside to see what I could see and live as long as I could and pray to see the good Lord after I die.

Peace!

We're not coming to live on your planet, that's for sure.

You should ask more questions like this, some people are actually believing your raving nonsense and getting a wee bit upset, dear me.

They are nobbers though if they do believe unsubstantiated drivel.

REALLY hope there's life after death and say out loud, "Sorry I doubted you, God. I believe in you now. Get the kettle on, I'll be coming up next Thursday!", just as a bit of insurance in case there really is a God.

Edit

Sorry creationists, I didn't mean to offend. If there really is a God, I'm sure he's big enough to understand and forgive my infancy and ignorance.
