It was quick and relatively painless, Scully, the conscious part of it only lasting about 30 seconds. Then there is the fade to black, and the peace of nothingness. You really need to let it go. To continue to dwell on it after all this time is morbid, and you can have no happiness if you continue with this line of thinking.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I had something similar happen and it is devestating. Counseling will help and not blaming yourself for the actions of others is the best way to go.
As for whether he suffered, most likely not. If his neck wasn't broken then all that happen was his windpipe was constricted to the point where his lungs couldn't be inflated and he passed out and died. Fairly peaceful and quiet. If his neck was broken, he died almost instantly and without any sort of pain or feeling. His spinal cord was compressed and it canceled the signal from his brain to inflate his lungs and he died within seconds.
The best way to handle death, is to focus on life. There is nothing you can do to change the outcome of what happened, you just have to accept it, move on and focus on the things in your life that bring you joy. Your husband would have wanted it that way. There is nothing that you did to cuase this. He was most likely depressed and his depression got the best of him. It happens everyday to thousands of people who think suicide is the only way out.

Most of the time hanging results in a broken neck or strangulation.
I don't think anyone would want you to hang onto this like you are.
Mediums, afterlife people are from Satan...they are bad and wrong.
The best thing you can do is realize they are gone...grieve and get over it. See a shrink to help you get past what they went through when they died. Point being they are dead and you can't bring them back.
You are alive...move on and LIVE!
be cool...

Firstly to respond to the previous answer we as mere mortals and possibly being a " Good Christian " have no right to pass judgement on others. ( mediums etc. )
I have no idea what to say to you maam but I am sorry for your loss and cannot imagine the pain you may have or do feel from this. My suggestion is to seek professional help in this matter. This is a very serious matter and you deserve to find closure. Good Luck

You need to move on in the worst way. Dwelling on this is terribly unhealthy. Usually hanging snaps the spine at the highest level, severing the brain stem. You might do an online search for "death by hanging" for more gory details. I don't imagine he felt anything, as the spinal column can't conduct pain impulses if it is severed. Now please, there's nothing you can do but accept his passing and get on with your life.

I am so sorry for your loss. I completely understand your need for answers as to the whys and ifs. My father committed suicide 6 weeks ago by shooting himself in the head, he had brain cancer. I have so many questions as to what he felt if anything, why he did what he did. I dont know if either of us will ever have the true answers, but i want to wish you the best in your quest.

The method he used would take a maximum of two minutes, but in most cases a lot less*.... It was a weak moment in his life and he thought that was the only solution to what was troubling him*... Don't blame yourself for this event*... Many people do it everyday for their own reasons, whatever they may be*... In most cases it remains an unknown, unless they leave a note*... I am sorry for your loss, but life has to go on, and you need to move on yourself*...

Sorry for your loss. You may never know the reason he committed suicide. I sincerely hope you have seen a therapist over this. Being obsessed with how he felt while dieing isn't normal.

It is sad but you will never know.
You have to believe that no matter how violent of peaceful
it may have been, he was released from whatever personal hell he might have been dealing with.
This is a matter of your own faith not his.
Try to come back to the world of life.
