Yes. Every country has it's moron element and in the States it's this ludicrous love of guns. I believe it all started because of a paranoid fear that the " British were coming" Well over 200 years now and the British still haven't arrived, wouldn't you think that they'd stand down?

First, the phrase "big gun culture" is ambiguous as hell. Do you mean a culture that is centered around "big guns." Or do you mean a big culture that is centered around guns of any size. Either way, your statement is nonsense; it merely indicates that you are one Happy Camper in the Great Euro-peon Commune, thus obliged to take potshots at America whenever possible.
Equally ridiculous is your "idea" (perhaps "hope") that America is "degenerating into chaos" because we are all "shooting each other." Though I've lived here over 40 years, virtually all my life, I've never seen anyone gunned down in the street. I've never even witnessed a threat of gun violence, though I and most of my neighbors own firearms. All in all this country is peaceful. The gun violence here is mainly an inner city/subculture crime--committed daily (or hourly) by The World's Favorite Minority. Unfortunately, confiscation of their guns would be very difficult, as the urban jungle folk tend to favor unregistered weapons.

Rather than it being a contributing factor, i would say that it is the sole reason for the shootings at school, in the furtherance of any crime, and for the bully boy attitude of the law enforcement and military. Remove civilian guns, and the crime rate would drop, but unemployment would rocket.

I don't mind living in a "gun culture." I live in a state where they are really big, and I have to admit it actually kind of makes me feel safe. The way I see it, people who seek to do wrong are going to have guns anyway, weather it is legal or not. People who are not seeking to do wrong are simply not going to shoot people with their guns. So if you outlaw guns, then only criminals will have them, and everyone will know it, and it will be alot less safe. Where I am now, a person who wants to break into a home would think "That person likely has a gun," and they would be less likely to do so.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a gun freak or anything like that, but we don't have to be victims either.

Biggest guns and biggest bombs.
How can it be defensive by bombing another country the other side of the world when they have no way of fighting back? The intelligence knew that Sadam had no weapons and just hoped that the world would thank them for getting rid of him.
You can't even call it defense as Iraq had nothing to do with 911 - infact most of the suicide bombers came from Amercia's friends the Saudis.
Now, lots of thumbs down from Americans who hate people questionning their ethics.....

Yes, i beleive it is a huge contribution! Just compare America to any other country that does not allow fire arms and there is your answer!
Americans will never get rid of Guns as it is in the American constitution that every individual is entitled to own a fire arm to protect them selves!!

Sad but true!
RE:
People who say it does not contribute!!!
I am not saying that every American is a gun wielding trigger happy maniac!
But if Guns are more accessable to those who are crazy enough to kill you will have more gun related crimes - school shootings etc. Its a fact that you can not dispute!

95% of all the shootings is because of drugs. Not so much marijuana but coke and Heroin and Meth.
THAT is the problem. Otherwise people wouldn't kill each other.
If drug dealers didn't have guns, they'd use knifes, or a car etc.

Of course it is the contributing factor!...If we had no access to these weapons we would see no reason to mindlessl use them. But, no, I think there is no hope for change because we have had them too long and the Constitution gives us the right to bear arms...

Of course. Logic dictates that the more guns you have, the more guns will be used.
However, this is part of our history and I don't see it changing.
