I am making a shirt for my son from an old Daddy shirt.?

I need help on the collar. I am not sure if I should cut from the ends or from the middle or should I try to construct one from the left over materials. The points on the existing collar are in great shape and I am not sure I do as good a job of it. This shirt needs to be finished fairly soon, so if you know how to acomplish this, please help me. Thank You!

Even if you use the points, the collar will have to be re-angled and you may never get it just right. It might look neater to just make a nice collar band from the leftover materials, and maybe use the same trim on the sleeves.
