My niece uses a speedo suit and everyone on the team uses the same kind. She just uses her old one to practice in. Good Luck!

Whatever type of suit you feel most comfortable in for practicing. If you are a new swimmer, you might still want to wear board shorts (I have several who do). If you are more comfortable, you may wish to wear a "jammer", which is an (almost) knee length competition style suit -- there are tons of brands, most already mentioned -- one is not better than the other, generally. A polyester or all-nylon suit will last much longer than a typical lycra/spandex version; always try on a poly or nylon suit, they don't all fit the same.
As far as actual competition -- your coach has already picked out a suit/style and should pass that information on to you.

the main lasting one that I definitely have got here across became a Speedo persistence suit. I definitely have been swimming considering i became 5 and lengthy handed by way of approximately 8 different fits, and by way of some distance my persistence in shape has lasted the longest, in basic terms a splash hit in case you do get one they jun a splash small, so that's advisable to get a length bigger than familiar.

Your team suit and a practice suit or two. Practice suits can be whatever you prefer, briefs or jammers, in whatever fabric and style you feel the most comfortable in. You may also want a mesh brief as a drag suit. Ask your coach to recommend some places in your area that sell suits or get them all from the place you get your team suit.

I am on my high school team and i get a speedo brand. They are tight and help to improve your times a bit. Also TYR is another good brand too. Good Luck.

Speedo, and shave off all your body hair. I heard it helps reduce your time, because it causes less friction. You can wear a swim cap for you head.
