What is the best indoor atmosphere/watering habit for African Violets and Gerraniums? Mine do not seem to be flourishing.

African violets like filtered light. Water from the bottom as water on the leaves will kill them, but don't let them sit for long periods of time in water.

Geraniums prefer full sun, can be overwintered indoors (they'll make it but may become "leggy".) Easily rooted in water or with rootone in soil.

good luck

African Violets like filtered or indirect light where as Geraniums like lots of light. The more light you give a geranium the better. Like any plant water the geranium when the soil is dry within two inches of the surface. As for watering African Violets keep the soil moderately moist and don't get the leaves wet. Make sure you don't let the plant sit in the water either, let it run completely through the soil.

Everyone has given good advice, but Id like to add that geraniums really do not do well indoors. They are an outdoor plant and like lots of sun. They just cant get that indoors unless you live in a glass house. Put it outside and in the winter bring it in so you can have it for the next year. It will not tolerate frost and is usually treated as an annual in colder climates. :)

I would say a south facing window with filtered sun for both and they should do great . good luck with them.
