Once you've double checked the connections and made sure the power lights are on on both items, there are one or two things you may want to check. With some of the newer systems from Big Box Manufacturers, depending on whether or not you are connecting through classic VGA or a DVI port on the back of your computer, some of the monitors now have an input button on the front that you may have to toggle from VGA to DVI. As nice as technology is, it still does not always auto detect.

Also, particularly with some of the new Dell machines, the monitor will come with the standard VGA cable attached and a separate DVI connection cable or adapter for the VGA cable. Both the VGA and the CVI will be present on the back of the system. Make sure you did not uncap the VGA qand use it instead of the DVI. The DVI will take precedence over the VGA connection so you must use it.

No signal means the monitor isn't connected to a working motherboard and processor.

First things first, check the cables. Make sure the PC is plugged in to the outlet, then make sure theres a connector from the computer to the monitor. Take the connectors apart and reconnect them just to be sure.

Check that the power is on for the computer. If you're seeing no signal then the monitor is on.

After you're sure all cables, plugs and switches are on, then see if it's working. If it's not, call the vendor that sold you the computer. It's time for them to make good on any warranty.

If the original monitor is still working, connect this back in to the computer and try again for a picture to appear, if there is a picture then you will know there is a signal being sent to the monitor, what ever you do, shutdown the computer first and switch off before you unplug the old monitor, then plug the new monitor into the computer switch it on then start the computer and see what happens, if there is still no picture the new monitor could be faulty and will need to be taken back to the store where you brought it from and changed for a replacement. good luck

probably due to the pc not being correctly wired in

or faulty cable..
