Sourav is the man.... No doubt.

Both of them scored over 10,000 runs. both average over 40. Both are good bowlers. Sachin may get a slight edge in fielding.

But, When you speak about captaincy, leadership qualities, Records show that sourav is the best but sachin's captaincy is one of the worst india have ever had,

Without pressure Sachin
Under pressure Sourav

Explanation - Maximum out between 95 and 99 is Sachin.
Indian team have hardly won any match with solo credit of Sachin. In most of the critical matches Sachin is normally out before 10 ! Otherwise Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is the best batsman India has ever produced.

Sachin is selfish and Sourav is not so it doesn't really matter who is a better cricketer. I would like him to play for India if I have to choose between the two.

Hi,
Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Mahela Jayawardene are the best in comtemporary cricket - in one dayers as well as test matches. These are match winners unlike Indian or Pakistani paper tigers (including that from Bengal).

They win matches for their respective countries not like Sachin Tendulkar, who stays out there for his records only (of late that is). Just see the way Sachin hung around there yesterday to make a century. He made a tentative 99 out of 149 balls where as Jack Kallis leading an inexperienced team single handedly took the game away from the Indians. He also took two catches and two wickets while remaining not out on 91. Now that's a match winning cricketer! I don't know to prove what Sachin is prolonging his career. Probably for stupid fans and his own records and not to win matches for India.

Coming back to the original question if somebody asks me to pick a batsman, out of the two, who win matches for India and possesses team spirit/leadership qualities, I would pick Saurav Ganguly.

Best Regards,
Ajith
