to stop the itch a product caled ban itch is best. To keep those ants out of your house trickle lemon juice on the outside of the house at the enterance where they are. Lemon juice does not kill them they just dont like it and leave the area. to kill them outside use gasoline.

The best stuff I've used to get rid of fire ants is Amdro. I get it at the hardware store or garden center. It has to be dry to work, so don't use it if it's damp outside or rains in the forecast. And, use it soon after buying it, as those buggers don't like "stale" food. It's only effective about 3 months after the package has been opened. Broadcast it over your entire lawn if possible, but if you have a huge yard and can't, at least be sure to put plenty on any of their "hills" you spot. It's best to use it in the early morning or late afternoon, when the ants do most of their feeding.

I was just watching a documentary about them. Those little buggers. But I think you can put ice or something.
