The sound coming out of my computer speakers is sometimes not loud enough, even though I have set the computer sound level to maximum.
This is probably because the speakers are rather small (Hi-tex CP-55, purchased from Maplin electronics in the UK.
What grade of speakers can I use to give me a louder output? It would help if I could get speakers that have a volume control built in.
My computer runs on Windows XP home version.
I don't need expensive hi-fi speakers, as I only use my present speakers for listening to the spoken word through my computer.

I use powered-monitor speakers, "Behringer Truth 2031A" speakers with a built-in amplifier in each. A pair costs approximately $325 US. A lot of musicians do this. If this isn't loud enough for you I would be amazed. You control the volume with the computer volume control. Sometimes it isn't loud enough for me, but that's because I'm a little crazy!

absolutely any speaker will work. The main difference is the connector type. Computers typically have a 1/8 inch audio connector. So try for speakers that have that sort of plug, or look for a converter from other types of wiring.
