"judge for the plaintiff" means "the judgment goes in favor of the plaintiff" or "the judgment is awarded to the plaintiff" "in the amount of $500". Meaning the judge has ruled that the defendant must pay the plaintiff $500.

A "plaintiff" is the person who files the "complaint" and seeks some sort of restitution for damages from another party who must "defend" themselves against the claim (called the "defendant").

The plaintiff is the person that filed the charged against the defendant (just think "one who defends"). She ruled in favor of the plaintiff and awarded them $500. The cases are going to vary, of course. But the roles as far as plaintiff and defendant are always the same.

the plaintiff is the person that has taken the other person (the defendent) to court. So judgement for the plaintiff for say 500 dollars means that person has won.
