for instance, if someone has gained weight, and they ask you "if they are fat?", isn't it ok to say, "no" (even if they are)......c'mon, you wouldn't want to hurt their feelings, would you?

I suppose those are OK. Everyone also does it with their children. You have to. There are some things you just want to sheild them from for awhile.

If someone gets something new and is so proud and asks me if i like it sure i could say no but as long as you like it thats all that matters
im going to just say yes
most little white lies like that are just our opinions anyway and im sure somebody out there might like it lol

Yeah, it should be obvious to the person that they are fat especially if they are asking about it so don't make them feel worse by saying "yes."

They are obviously not happy with how they look so maybe you could say something like "I think you look great but if you're concerned about it, we could start going to the gym together."

Yeah, it's ok in your example. But let's face it, if they are obese and everyone is telling them that they are fine, are you really helping out a friend by lying?

Yes there are. There are reasons to lie. And some, suprisingly, are good reasons. That reason is: not to hurt feelings.

Sometimes you have to be nice. I usually just say "you always look good" and hopefully they drop it LOL
