I have already been to most of the larger "free" font sites, so please don't give me fonts.com or acidfonts.com. I am looking for non-stiff, handpainted-looking scripts like on these posters:

Thanks.

SCRIPT, HAND-WRITTEN, VINTAGE. those are the keywords I'm looking for.... not typefaces like would be seen in a medieval book. non-stiff, informal, painted, etc.

Try Dafont.com. They have lots of fonts under the categories you're looking for (although Vintage-style fonts are listed under Retro). Try these links below and see if these will suit you well.

i already found the font that you're tryin to get. its call Old English. Click on that and it should download a zip file. Open the zip file and then copy or save everything in it to your font folder.

The way that you make them non-stiff and handpainted is to adjust them after you apply them to your graphics. Your photo program should have lots of effects like shadows and warping.

I have several books/cdRoms that came from Dover, that have similar fonts. It's not free though. If you're picky, it's time for you to graduate to the next level. I recommend the Art Noveau book.
