We can't put the blame directly on the school system. There are many dedicated professional teachers in the system whose primary interest is teaching our children; however, a child's first and foremost teacher is his/her parents.
With today's busy lifestyle, more and more parents are leaving everything concerning the children to the school systems which is wrong. Parenting starts at home and should remain there....it is NOT the educators moral responsibility to raise the children.
Parents: please take time with your young ones, it's is not only your responsibility, but your obligation before God.

That guy above me needs to shut up. This is an informal site for crying out loud.
Anyways, Yes I do think the school system is at its worst. Because schools are not evenly funded. Thus some schools dont have the resources to properly educate the students. Also, some kids just dont care. That has a lot to do with MTV and the microwave raising today's kids.

The greater problem is the structure (or lack thereof) in so many American homes. More and more people are just randomly having babies and not taking responsibility for them. They are not providing any kind of structure and not teaching their kids to behave or to respect others. So the children come to school without manners or respect, and they don't think they have to listen to anyone. Kids think they can do anything they want because their parents have taught them exactly that. Then the parents wonder what happened.
There's a very true saying that goes "Parents are a child's first teacher." So if you want children to be respectful and actually try to learn anything, then parents, it's YOUR responsibility to teach them that BEFORE they even get to school. Parents you are parents! Own up to it and take responsibility! If you don't like the way your children are doing, do something about it. Stop trying to blame others and take care of your own children!

No, but they definitely need help. Parents must support their children's schools but the rest of the community needs to step up too. The next time you are tempted to curse a tax increase for your school system, volunteer for a day in one of your local public schools, you might change your mind. We live in the wealthiest county in our state and our kids don't have good access to their own text books until they hit high school. In middle school, the only kids that got text books were the ones who didn't have internet access at home so they could read it online...

I have a perfect comparison. I raised my daughter here, in California and then Florida. My sister raised her son, 3 months age difference, in London.
Unfortunately it became obvious almost immediate that my nephew was sailing ahead.
He was taught from 9 years old, physics, chem & biology as seperate subjects 45 minutes a day 5 days a week. My daughter had 'science' twice a week from 12 years old.
I could go on but it is too depressing.

you would be incorrect, as quickly as I hear public college i think of indocrination into "team think of" menality. the governemnt does not choose the favored american to think of for themselves, my God Obama and his goons do not choose human beings to think of, era. He needs a rustic of robots and drones to do the bidding of the elite. So no i don't choose "united college equipment" for all American young little ones . and you're already a robotic in case you think of this is a good theory. You human beings fairly scare me! So prepared to allow the government take over your means to think of and act on your own. Very unhappy!

I think the main problem is the disparity between schools.
Some public schools have indoor pools and gaming systems and others don't even have books or teachers.
Seriously, what the hell?

yeah we are stupid compared to other countrys and i think it is becuase since most americans have so much freedom compared to other places that we take everything for advantage. But the people in other countrys want to learn to have a better future. To sum it all up, we are lazy.

I don't know, we homeschool! We like being able to spend more time with our kids, and giving them that personal one- on-one help. Plus we like them being more influenced by our own morals and values.
