hi
when 2 line are perpendicular : m1 * m2 = -1
m1 = (-4-5) / (-3-0) = 3
therefore the slope of the line = -1/3
as 3 * -1/3 = -1

Slope of this line, m = rise/run
= (5 - -4) / (0 - - 3)
= 9/3
= 3

Slope of any line perpendicular = -1/m
= -1/3

The slope through those point is (-4-5)/(-3-0) =
-9/-3 = 3.

So, the slope of any line perpendicluar is the negative inverse, or -1/3.

Work out the gradient of this line.....

-3 - 0 = -3

-4 - 5 = 9

Gradient = 9 / -3 = -3

So any line perpendicular means that -3 * x = -1 (where x is the gradient of the other line)

In this case x = 1/3, as -3 * 1/3 = -1

To find the slope through two points use the formulae

Y2 - Y1 over X2 - X1 (X1 = 0)(Y1 = 5)(X2 = -3)(Y2 = -4)

So: -4 - 5 over -3 - 0
= -9 over -3
= 9 over 3
= 3

To find the perpendicular slope you swap the numbers around and change the signs so you get -1 over 3.

gradient = m = (5 - -4)/(0 - -3)
= 9
gradient of perpendicular line = -1/m = -1/9

m1 = 9 / 3 = 3 (is slope of given line)
m2 = - 1/3 (is slope of perpendicular line)
Note
m1 x m2 = - 1
