Gooseberry Sawfly - it looks like a little green caterpillar on the back of the leaves.
They can completely clear a gooseberry of all leaves in less than a day.
You CAN spray to get them - but you have to be VERY quick to catch them!
The bush should already have set fruit so you will get a crop this year. Just feed the bush well over the coming months and make sure you clear up all litter underneath it. If you're lucky you won't necessarily get them again next year!
