Why can't the rangers realize that if you want to win, you need pitching! Spend some money on free agent pitchers instead of batters, now they have neither and their G.M. just got a conttract extension? I know that there are going to be fans out there that will just simply say "The Rangers suck " o.k., fine but as a fan of baseball in general, regardless of whom you are a fan of why aren't the fans listened to more as we are the ones who make these teams possible?

The two previous GMs, Hart and Melvin, were totally incompetent at identifying and acquiring quality starting pitching. Daniels isn't looking much better at it, but he's only been on the job less than two years.

Pitchers don't have to be big-name free agents; they're not usually worth the money anyway, except the very few very best. No, the Rangers need to work on drafting and developing, as they have been just awful at this part of the job. Last worthwhile Rangers-farmed pitchers? Brown and Rogers, both of whom debuted in the late 1980s. Ouch. (Helling came up in 1994, showed some promise, had some decent seasons, but was never an ace. Witness, Melvin traded him away, then went and got him back. Melvin was an idiot.)

And it's not just The Ballpark, as these guys suck on the road too.

Here's the last four times a Ranger was in the top ten in ERA in the AL:
Rogers, 2005 (7th, 3.46)
Ken Hill, 1996 (6th, 3.63)
Rogers, 1995 (5th, 3.38)
Ryan, 1991 (5th, 2.91)

One in the past ten years, and to get as many as four we have to reach all the way back to Nolan Ryan. Yeesh. Hill caught lightning in a bottle; no other season of his career was nearly that good.

Rogers has had a weird, almost co-dependent relationship with the Rangers. Debuted in 1989, stayed until 1995, came back 2000-02, came back again 2004-05 and managed to assault a cameraman, never a good idea. Probably the only known pitcher in recent memory to have success in Arlington, and they can't even hold on to him, for whatever reasons.

If Daniels doesn't do something right about the pitching by the time his extension expires in 2009, show him the door.

The Rangers have a two part problem; they are in a small market and don't want to spend the money for a top free agent pitcher and, no top free agent wants to go to Texas because they are a small market team that will probably not be a winner. Management has to come to the decision that they want to be competitive and they are willing to spend money to get there. Once this occurs, if ever, they will start on the long road to prosperity. Baseball is a risky business and there is a much higher potential of losing money than making money if you don't make the right moves.

large pitching continuously beats large hitting interior the playoffs. Yanks basically don't have sufficient pitching collectively as whilst in comparison with the Rangers on the comparable time as their lineups are the two large. What got here approximately is that large rangers lineup hit mediocre yankees pitching o.ok. yet large yankees lineup are close down via skill of large rangers pitching. Pitching makes each and all the distinction!

They are not a big market so it is hard for them to pay that kind of salary. Now it would be nice if as fans we had a say but the only way to do that is to not go to games and hit the owners in the pocket and then voice the fact that until they go out and spend the money then we will not give you our hard earned money to watch a team lose!

I'm with you. The Rangers have never had very good pitching. They have always built their team around hitting.
