Microsoft has changed a lot in Windows Vista so a lot of programs don't get along well with Vista. ZoneAlarm is not compatible with Vista. Many programs have versions created specially for Vista. You should watch if the programs you install have the "Certified for Windows Vista" of "Works with Windows Vista" logos from Microsoft. And if you can't find a firewall try Windows Firewall. You can find it in Control Panel in Security.

So far there aren't any third party firewalls that work with Vista. Just make sure that Vista's firewall is turned on and that you have Vista Defender (for spyware) turned on also. I've been running Vista with this setup for almost 5 months now, and have had no problems at all.
