As a great performer that apparently had some severe personal or emotional problems and snapped. Of course I didn't know the guy personally, but clearly he was capable of healthier emotion and compassion (his in-ring celebration with his family, his mourning of his friend Eddie Guerrero).
But apparently he was also capable of doing something horrible. Either that or angering the wrong people and leading to one hell of an elaborate frame job. It's like with OJ Simpson or Michael Jackson, your original opinion of the guy is going to affect how you look at it ... if I didn't know anything about Benoit (and didn't enjoy his work so much) I would assume that he did it, case closed, which is probably true anyway.

I'll remember Chris Benoit by knowing that he's the only one in the Royal Rumble to get The Big Show over the top rope, that, and he's the 1st one to beat him, as far as I know and also, I will remeber him as being one of the greatest champions there ever was around because he's beaten a ton of people when/if he put his titles on the line (except, for Chris Jericho and M.V.P.)

It's hard to think of Benoit as any of the following:
-the best d@mn technical wrestler
-the canadian crippler
-the canadian crossface
-the rabid wolverine
or as you stated,
-the greatest in ring performer in all of WWE history
when his list of accomplishments now include
-murderer of his own wife
-murderer of his own 7-year-old son
Call him what you want about his wrestling career, but murdering two people including an innocent child kind of overshadows anything else he might have done before.

I'll remember as one of the greatest technical wrestlers ever, as my favorite wrestler for an extended period of time in the WWE, a man who gave 100% in the squared circle every damn time he stepped in it, and a very loved man who had a problem with steroids, as do many WWE wrestlers. I think it's unjust to think negatively of a man you loved just yesterday, so suddenly.
I love you, Chris.

Well, he was really good and all. But murdering his own family and then hanging himself? Thats just wrong man. I mean, I'll probably remember him. But just not in a really good way.

as one of the world's greatest a**holes. A total douchebag who was too much of a loser and wimp to just take his own life - he had to kill his family too.
He should be barred from any "history" other than of world's biggest idiots.
