What can I use instead of post-it notes to cover words cloze-style on Big Books when reading to the class. Post-its are removable (that's what I want), but are too see-through. Any suggestions?

Did you try the dark neon color post-it notes? Those are a little darder and should not be see-through.

They make several shades of post it note, including one that is a very dark blue if I am not mistaken. Maybe take a trip down to Office Depot or somewhere and get some real dark ones

I not sure what you want. Index cards are good and I stick them down between two pages in the binding to lock them in when I want.

You can get them in different colours and shapes. Find one that suits your needs
