In a great sense it is. I think we admire those that we can relate to. We understand their situations so much greater than we could ever understand anyone else's..... because they are similiar to us. But the admiration goes further. It's not some narcissistic admiration.... as though you are looking in a mirror. It's a hope that you could be like them. They hold some quality that you deeply pray you could find a way to achieve yourself. No..... not jealousy...... admiration. You see how they go through life day by day and how they deal with situations, with people, with conflict, with passion and there are aspects of them that make you just stand back and shake your head and say, "Wow...... how do they do it? I'd give anything to learn." And the cool part is....... the person you admire is just caring and giving enough to hold your hand and take you there.

This had to have been my mom. Wow....... what a remarkable remarkable lady. I'm not sure that any one simple person touched as many people as this one soul did without even realizing she had. I realized at her funeral....... I was definitely not the ONLY person that admired her.

I think we admire qualities about someone that either we have ourselves, or we recognize are qualities we wish we had. We identify with and learn from that person.

Because I love them. Simple as that. Not for what they are, but who they are.
