It is probably Mickey mantle or Joe D. But for me personally it is Bernie Willimas. Bernie is not going to go down as the best yankee, he probably won't even make the Yankees all time top ten list but he was a great player with great character who loved playing in the Bronx.

Of all-time? It's very difficult to go against Babe Ruth, but he'll be the choice of so many on this particular thread. For my money, I'll take Lou Gehrig. He, unfortunately, had to pack up his career relatively early due to his sickness. If not, he could've been a 600 HR man.

Derek Jeter, while not there yet, shows tremendous leadership and consistency, though his defense at times is very lackluster.

Ron Guidry and Lefty Gomez, in my opinion, are two of the greatest Yankee pitchers of all-time, but because we're discussing the greatest PLAYER, I honestly believe Gehrig may be the very best Yankee.

Jeter is the best yankee player, he has been consistent throughout his entire career with the yankees, Arod is sick but has had his ups and downs, and hasnt spent his entire career with the same team.

I would vote for Mickey Mantle....does that mean that I voted for myself and I am being selfish?.....always been a Mickey Mantle fan......my son's middle name is "Mantle"....so he gets my vote.....Joe DiMaggio and Ruth a close second......now if you are talking about current players....would have to vote for Jeter over A-Rod only because of longevity.....but if he stays past this year he should become the best ever.....inspite of his post season play so far......but for now it has to be Jeter.

In hitting, or infield? I'd say either Derek Jeter or A-Rod. Possibly Possada... but who knows. It really depends on what position because you could say someone was the best infielder, but they may suck at hitting.
