The birth of a Jewish state in Palestine on 14th May 1948 was informed by the Jews Higher Council, when Britain which held the entire Palestine under Mandatory Powers of UN, unilaterally gave up the right on the very same date! The question arises who was actually incharge of Palestine that day?Did the new Govt of Israel got transfer of power to it from any authorized authority?
UN passed a resolution to create a jewish state in Palestine in Nov.1947. Did it actually create it?If not, how could USA, UK, France, Russia recognize the new state?
Did the UN bother to create an Arab Palestine state in the residual area? If not, has it not failed in its duty?
The neighbouring Arab states not only refused to recognize Israel but attacked it. UN, the world body created in1945 to
prevent wars, should have intervened and stopped the war.
On the other hand,Israel won the 6-days war and annexed 1/3 of residual Palestine, which was not the territory of the defated Arab states! Hence, Israeli annexation of Palestinian land remains till date quite illegal, unauthorized, invalid and untenable.
To put an end to the Middle East crisis, the UN must act now.
It must reclaim the palestinian land appropriated by Irsrael
and a sovereign Palestinian state created therein without losing any time. The Govts, of both the states must be impelled to sign a"no war pact for the next fifty years."

The United States neither has the obligation nor the right to "allow" Israel to do anything. They are a sovereign country, established in 1948 with the approval of the United Nations. The fact that we often support them is due to any number of factors, including the fact that we understand them better than the Muslims, as well as the fact that no one said much when Hitler was killing them.

From the very first day they were ready to live side by side with the "Palestinians" but instead they had to fight for their lives every day. The were attacked on all sides, and the religious and political leaders of the area encouraged the "Palestinians" to leave their homes and become permanent refugees. Those who stayed were afforded full Israeli citizenship, without the obligation to serve in the military which is universal for the rest of the country.

The land they took in the 'six day war' was intended to create a more defensible barrier against further attacks.

as i understand it, it's a matter of security. they actually took lots more than they're holding today, and most was given back. but there's like 5 million Israelis and 500 million arabs, surrounding them, that want them DEAD! no exceptions. so a "buffer" is a good idea. the 6 day war was largely (but not entirely) an act of aggression. there were no "palestinians" back then either. the whole issue is clouded with today's political-speak.

Israel pulled of Gaza in 2005, dismantled their settlements and forcefully bumped off Israelis from the section. Hamas took over in 2007 and commenced lobbing rockets at Israeli civilians, prompting the institution of a blockade to steer away from weapons from being smuggled into Gaza, and getting used against civilians.

EVERY country in the world owns the land it does now because it won it in a war. The USA won land in wars with the Native Americans, the Spanish, the Brittish, the French, the Mexicans, and the Japanese.

Whatever country you live in got its land because of wars. It is the way of the world. Grow up.

This is question which has taxed the minds of great statesmen for the last almost 40 years...so not really something that can be answered in a forum like this...you are either for Israel and think they had justification, or not...the consequences of their actions are with us today however and will be for generations to come.

Easy, they had the land thousands of years before the Palestinians. Do you stop owning a house in Michigan if you move to Florida in the winter? What do you do if you find someone living in your house when you get back...you kick them out. Same deal.

We are a small island who can't even control our own borders, take a reality pill.

even more importantly why does the US left them settle it with total extremist Zionists? And why is the attack on the USS Liberty still unmentioned, even though it was a vicious act of treachery?
