Everyone can go naming all these things they THINK they couldn't live without, but I strongly believe the truth is that not one of you would give up a toilet for any other invention on Earth. Yeah, it aint pretty to talk about, and everybody would probably rather choose something more glamorous, BUT, think about it. The toilet is not only an incredible invention, utilizing pretty much every law of physics, but it virtually eliminated disentary (spelling?) type diseases and it sure makes life infinitely nicer and cleaner, doesn't it? Which of you would choose to live without it?

And to "Top Contributor" (do you have another name, dude?) - Didn't STEVE JOBS invent the Apple computer? That wasn't Bill Gates, was it? Or am I misinformed?

And to the person who asked this question -- do you REALLY think you'd rather do your business in a hole in the ground or a disgusting porta-potty just so you can have a friggin' q-tip?

Electricity wasn't exactly an invention, it was a discovery, because it existed long before old Benny Franklin flew his kite and fortunately, didn't get electrocuted! But all of our technology is based on electricity. Without it, we would be back in the Dark Ages, which is where we're headed if we don't stop contributing to global warming.

The toilet. In fact, the inside toilet.
A wonderful invention. Thank you Thomas Crapper.

A bit harsh to Chumley, weren't you.

White Out.....I use it often at work, for my check book and anything else I can think of. Once, I got permanent marker on a white uniform top and couldn't get it out. I tried everything, and it was a brand new top. I even used white out on that marker spot. It was perfect....Covered it completely.....Even after washing it. The white out stayed on and continued to cover my marker error. It was invented by Mike Nesmeth's mother. many years ago. Mike was one of the original Monkee's....If you don't know the Monkee's, they were a signing group back in the 70's. Love em' and love that white out.

I pick the printing press. Gutenberg was a genius. If we didn't have the printing press just think about all the books we wouldn't get to read.
